Master Key in Hand, Everykey

Tired of carrying heavy keychains and memorizing a list of passwords for every different sites? Worried your personal information might be hacked? Here’s a solution. The “Everykey.” Everykey is a password encryption device that unlocks every passwords and locks through Bluetooth system. It can be carried in a key chain, or be accessorized as a wrist band. When the person holding their own Everykey is nearby, Everykey unlocks every access-controlled devices the person owns. Devices such as phone, laptop, tablet, house door, car door etc. Then, it locks them back when the person walks away. Everykey also generates secure passwords for website accounts, then automatically logs in and out. Through this innovative invention Everykey, people can live with much comfort and escape from worrying whether their personal information might be hacked.

The Everykey was invented by Chris Wentz. The motive of the invention came from Wentz and his friend’s daily life. Whenever they forgot their computer passwords or lose their apartment keys or dorm keys, they wished for a master key that could access to every online, offline locks. Then, the idea brought into shape when Wentz took an entrepreneurship class during his senior year. In July 2013, after Wenzt’s graduation, the company was formed.

The reason Everykey is significant is because it made people’s life comfortable. Nowadays, almost every people in the world has their own smart phones. Inside one’s smart phone, it is full of applications and remembering every login information for these apps is so stressful. Not only memorizing is stressful but also people literally forgot their own login information. Then, people have to undergo some troublesome processes to restore their login information. However, the Everykey automatically logs a person into the websites when the person is nearby. When the person walk away, it automatically logs the person out. So with Everykey, people won’t have to remember any of their passwords again!

Another reason that Everykey is innovative is that it offers perfect level of security. In this information-oriented society, every people’s personal information is kept in cyber space. This virtual space is always exposed in the danger of being hacked. However, when encrypting, the Everykey automatically creates highly complex, impenetrable passwords for people’s website accounts. This encryption technology that Everykey utilizes, is called AES 128-bit encrypton. The very same technology used in U.S military to protect their top secret documents. Even when a person loses their Everykey, it doesn’t matter. Everykey can be froze remotely, so no one else can use it.

Living in a scientifically modernized society, almost everybody’s personal information is being kept online. To keep their information safe, people come up with more and more complex passwords and then forget them. However, with this groundbreaking device, Everykey, people will be able to keep their personal accounts conveniently and safely. With Everykey, the world will eventually need no more keys, no more passwords.

Sustainable future through solar and wind energy

           With people’s insatiable consumptive habits, we are facing some real problems such as polluted environment or people losing their home because of sea level rises etc. To produce profit without destroying our natural resources and create a sustainable future, people came out with the idea “sustainable development.” For our sustainable future, people should use solar energy system and wind power energy. Through these energy system, people can use energy unlimitedly, keep our Earth unharmed and save money.

             So far, people are depending on natural resources a lot, especially on fossil fuels. The problem is that natural resources including fossil fuels, are limited. They are in danger of running out. However, solar energy and wind energy is limitless. The sun is an unlimited energy source that produces massive heat and light energy. Wind is also an unlimited energy. Since the sun and air will always be here, people can use this powerful energy without worrying.

             With these energies, people can also save our planet and make our future sustainable. The solar energy and wind energy are non-polluting energy source that doesn't emit green-house gases and carbon. By using solar panels, people can use energy without limits while saving our land. In addition, with wind power generation, it is estimated that 1.5million tons of carbon dioxide production will be reduced by 2020. These eco-friendly energies are effective in protecting our planet and so these improved systems will affect our future generation in substance

The most powerful and positive factor of these eco-friendly energies is their economic benefit. As a real example, my friend’s grandparents are actually using solar energy through solar panels. Before using the solar panels, their heating bills were very expensive and costed about 300,000 won. However, after they installed the panels, the cost reduced until 3000 won. As installing the panels are expensive, it is difficult for regular homes to install those panels on their own. To promote people and make sustainable future, government’s economic aid will be necessary.

Because of our selfishness and shortsighted greed, our planet has been devastated. For our future generation, promoting a pleasant environment is essential. To make a sustainable future, sustainable development through solar energy and wind energy is necessary. People will be able to make a better environment with these limitless, eco-friendly, and economic energies.

<Harry‘s First True Home, Hogwarts>

             Where is the most comfortable place in the world? The answer might differ from person to person, but ‘home’ will be the most common answer. Sometimes people take it for granted because home feels so natural and obvious. However, to some people, there is no place they could call home. The main character ‘Harry Potter’ of the movie series Harry Potter is an example of such a person.

            

             As an orphan, Harry lived with his aunt’s family. While living in his aunt’s house, Harry was never a happy child until he got into ‘Hogwarts,’ school of witchcraft and wizardry. Hogwarts became the first place Harry could call home. Also, it is a place where Harry meets his lifetime companions. The movie couldn’t have proceeded without the place ‘Hogwarts.’ Before entering Hogwarts and living with his aunt’s family, he was mistreated badly. He didn’t have a proper room, never got a birthday gift, and most importantly, was never been loved. Not knowing anything about his birth or his parents, Harry had though time in his childhood. However, after attended to Hogwarts, his whole life changed. For the first time in his life, he won people’s recognition. Some people even worshiped him. And most importantly, he could found comfort, be stable and feel safe. He had finally found a place he could call ‘home.’

             Another important factor in Hogwarts is that, it is a precious place where Harry meets his lifetime companions. While on his way to Hogwarts, he meets ‘Ron Weasley’ and ‘Hermione Granger,’ whom later become his life-time friends. Through the series, he meets a lot of allies. His godfather, great professors and his future wife etc. With these people, he gains energy to fight against his enemies, meets his parents through virtual images, and make treasurable memories. With these precious experiences, he become more mature and grow up as an adult who knows the value of friend and family. These factors make Harry be different from Lord Voldemort and help him win from the long battle with Lord Voldemort.

             It is true that the whole series is a fantasy. However, without Hogwarts, Harry Potter wouldn’t have become who he is at the end of the story. Also, if the movie's background was not Hogwarts, it would have been impossible for him to show his extraordinary abilities and become a legendary figure.

Geotourism for Hanok Village

           Korea is famous for a lot of traditional and cultural heritages. Among those, ‘Hanok village’ is famous for its beauty and age-long traditions. Hanok is a term for Korea’s traditional houses and located in Bookchon province. As it became renowned, more and more tourists are visiting this place every year. However, because of this increase, villagers are undergoing stressful times. Local residents are suffering from trash, noise, traffic congestion, trespassing etc. When introduced, geotourism will be able to reduce these problems and bring positive effects on Hanok village.

           One positive effect is that it can stop Hanok village become more and more commercialized. Until now, with traditional tourism, there was a vicious circle repeated: tourists come, major business district develops, and more tourists come. There are some interviews with the residents complaining about tourist’s shameless behaviors. According to the interview, the tourists abandon trashes everywhere and urinate on the street. Also, their sightseeing buses induce traffic jam. To lessen these damages as much as possible, it is essential to reduce the number of visitors to reasonable level. With geotourism, it will be much easier for villagers to manage the tourists more directly and efficiently.

Also, geotourism is needed for resident’s economic growth. In traditional tourism, only the major companies benefit and problems that comes with the profit, remains to be resident’s burden. There is a chart showing current status of Bookchon visitors. The number already reached more than 160,000 in 2011 and the number is in a strong uptrend. In geotourism, this figure can be a golden opportunity for local residents. Through local businesses such as providing resident’s real living spaces or traditional play classes, the villagers will be able to earn profit. Also, since the residents are the actual experts of the town, it will be much better if they work as tour guides. They will be able to introduce tiny little details in the village.

Lots of problems happening in Hanok village are derived from traditional tourism. To make Hanok village a place that both stands as residential area and living space, geotourism is the solution. Geotourism will help Hanok village become less commercialized and help the residents earn economic profit.

My name is Eunbin Lee. I was born in Daejeon and spent most part of my childhood there. When I turned 20, I went to a university near my home. My major was English Education. However, I always thought my hometown was small and longed to live in a bigger city. This desire made me study one more year for the college entrance exam and finally, I became to live in Seoul. The reason I chose Sungshin Women’s University was because Sungshin was the best option. At first, I didn’t like going to women’s college but now I am very contented. Being in women’s university made me become aware of feminism, gender inequality and things I never thought of while in coeducational colleges. So far I am enjoying my life spending great time in university, hanging out with good friends. I am doing a double major in French Literature and English Literature and I’m considering translator as my future career since I love staying home all day. However since nobody can assure one’s future, I try to live each day to the fullest. My top priority these days is how to improve my French skill quickly and how to overcome being shy. When making friends, I need more time than others. I started 'english conversation' club activity recently, so I'm focusing on overcoming my shyness.  I am looking forward to this class and hoping to be friends with you guys.
